Piranha Events GmbH

is part of the Piranha / WOMEX group consisting of the parent company Piranha Kultur GmbH and its three subsidiary companies Piranha Musik AG, WOMEX AG and Piranha Events GmbH.

The group was founded in 1987 in Berlin. The mission: to bring world music – the international soundtrack of Anti / Globalisation in all its variety – to Berlin, Germany. In the rough climate of the international music business and the cultural industry the Piranha companies prefer to be small but agile. Acting as catalysts and communicators, the goal is to promote tolerance and international understanding through a greater exposure to world culture. Piranha concentrates on substance and global networking rather than economic growth at any cost.

Piranha Events became a distinct and separate entity in 2003 in order to strengthen its impact on the regional concert and festival scene. Focusing on innovation and tradition, we cover it all. From our own productions, such as the summer festival classic HeimatKlänge (since 1988), to the supplying of a broad variety of services like programme consulting and the realisation of events for cultural institutes / ministries / fairs / awards – Piranha has become a trusted name in professionalism and cultural diversity.

Piranha Events also produces a growing number of events throughout Germany and abroad. Recent activities include programming for the 20th World Youth Day in Cologne, Germany, in 2005; the Culture Days 2005 of Serbia-Montenegro in four German cities; and the showcase production for the annual international world music expo WOMEX (e.g. 2004 in Essen, Germany; 2005 in Newcastle Gateshead, UK, 2006 in Sevilla, Spain…).
