HeimatKlänge goes football, bringing world music to the World Cup. Since last year the renowned open-air festival has been working a joint project with the Organising Committee for the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ and the FIFA World Cup City Berlin. The result – HeimatKlänge 2006 : World Club will take place right alongside the FIFA World Cup from June 9th to July 9th for a full 25 days of shows.
The festival is located in the heart of the “FIFA World Cup fan zone” on Kulturforum Potsdamer Platz in Berlin, where all football matches will be shown live on a large screen.
And then, starts the festival with music from the many nations taking part in the 2006 FIFA World Cup™. In honor of FIFA World Cup’s next host continent, HeimatKlänge puts a special focus on Africa’s multitude of musical styles, but there will be plenty more besides.
No great event would be complete without great food, and to keep with the international theme, HeimatKlänge offers world cuisine: a great variety of delicious dishes.
The combination of public viewing, quality live music and international cuisine – all timed to keep up with the match schedule – makes HeimatKlänge the perfect hang-out for Berliners and international guests alike. World Cup. World Music. World Cuisine. World Class.
