Berlin Battle of the Bands * Creole World Music from Germany

The second edition of "Creole - World Music from Germany" is being held in Berlin at Huxleys Neue Welt on September 24th-27th. "Creole" is unique in being Germany's only national competition for the professional world music scene. It's a national contest built on eight biannual regional competitions held in different parts of the country, a battle of more than 500 bands. Each of these regional contests decides a maximum of three winners to send to the national competition. An international jury, including Piranha President Christoph Borkowsky, then single out three national award recipients. Besides covering the competition, www.creole-weltmusik.de provides a research tool for contemporary developments, new bands and projects with the aim of developing networks and promoting bands. The Creole Award is organised by "creole - world music from Germany", a network of cultural institutions, federations and labels and funded by the Initiative Musik and the German *UNESCO* Commission.
