Description

The tango comes from Argentina, here lie its deep roots. With its singular elegance, tango is one of the most artful types of Latin-American music. The classical Tango Trio consists of piano, contra bass and a melody instrument, usually violin or accordion. The accordion's use in tango is completely unique, appearing constantly in the spotlight as a solo instrument.
In comparison to the more expressive Brasilian music, Argentine repertoire sounds cooler, more restrained and refined. The country lies far away from the tropical heat, but there is a deeper sensuality, an intimate atmosphere, which is reflected in the music. While serious, often dramatic expression predominates, this soundtrip CD also shows the bright, cheerful side of Argentina. Atmospheric songs with echoes of polka and waltz dance together with the tangos into the listener's heart.

The soundtrip series is a cooperative project between Piranha Musik and Reise Know-How Publishers. An experienced, established leader in the field of travel guide publication, Reise Know-How approached us to assist them in putting together compilations to mirror the current musical landscape in various regions. The series, which will continue for years to come, begins with 10 beautifully packaged CDs introducing listeners to the aural atmospheres of Argentina, Australia, the Balkans, China, Finland, Japan, Cuba, North Africa, northeast Brazil and Switzerland. Available at bookshops in German-speaking countries, soundtrip CDs can be found in special display cases placed near the Reise Know-How travel guide series.
