Part two of Haus der Kulturen's three part look into all kinds of changes people have to adapt to on the personal level in the age of globalisation, "Why are we here now?" This weekend: "Aleppo. A Portrait of Absence" by Mohammad Al Attar - tales and testimonies of Aleppo, its past, its presense - what will the future be like? A series of intimate one-on-one-performances; sold out so far - but probably worth a try a fortiori

Considering what this chap from the Bavarian sticks – name of Weiherer – is capable of when he's in good shape and mood, he's downright criminally underrated! Funny, even witty. Phantastic timing, singing as well as playing the guitar. And what an irresistably sexy idiom! :-)

Where: Wabe, Danziger Str. 101, 10405 Berlin // When: 19:00

Monday 25 SEPTEMBER

The higher the population in our cities, the more hard-fought is the public space. How can the individual exert influence, take part in shaping the society? "Vom Reden zum Handeln" – in his Schaubühne talk format "Streit ums Politische", sociologist, philosopher and psychologist Heinz Bude and cultural scientist Gesa Ziemer go for some answers. If you want to have an idea of Bude's motives, agenda and ideas, here he is guesting @ Richard David Precht:

Where: Schaubühne, Kurfürstendamm 153, 10709 Berlin // When: 19:30

Tuesday 26 SEPTEMBER

Pop Music is not all there is in America – there's also an impressive history of Classical Music. Kicking off its new series "Lieder und Dichter – Song Recitals in the Foyer", Deutsche Oper with "To be sung on the Water" presents songs by American composers Samuel Barber, Dominick Argento, Charles Ives, Aaron Copland and Englishman Edward Elgar – complemented by a reading by Berlin Writer Uljana Wolf

Wednesday 27 SEPTEMBER

This very strange product – Stasi material filmed secretly for whatever reason – is from a totally different perspective, yet about the same thing – what used to be West-Berlin during the days of the Wall, a world rapidly disappearing, if not gone already. Tanja Dückers, born and raised in West-Berlin, reminisces the past in her latest volume "Mein altes West-Berlin" – live @ "Lettekiez liest"

Where: Buchhandlung am Schäfersee, Markstraße 6, 13409 Berlin // When: 19:00
