We don’t really do the old art music commonly referred to as ‘classical music’ as such – no Mozart, no Bach, no Beethoven on Piranha Records as of today. But aside from the Eurocentric/Western variant that these heavyweights stand for and towards the classical musics of the world – you name ‘em, we publish ‘em!
Classical Arabic music is reflected in almost all of Piranha’s Arabic, Nubian and Egyptian releases; there are classical influences of all backgrounds in Piranha’s Jewish releases; some international classical variants, including even the Western styles, echo through Cello Trio’s Tango Brasileiro and the Balkan Clarinet Summit‘s Many Languages – One Soul. This is not to mention the depths of the North Indian classic that drift through Piranha’s two Sabri Brothers’ releases… – Jami & Qawwali Masterworks
