Music Stands Together - against the Corona Virus crisis

In the grip of the COVID19 crisis, the cultural community has suffered a hard blow with numerous events cancelled, record stores closing and new releases being postponed. As a result, many artists, music business professionals and people working in the scene are in an insecure financial situation.

It is a good thing that many initiatives that aspire to provide solutions have developed. We will be gathering here some actions that you might find interesting, and we will keep updating them regularly.

United We Stream:
While all Berlin Clubs have closed and the rest of the world is in quarantine, Berlin declares its support and solidarity by getting the biggest digital club to your home. United We Stream transmits DJ sets from inside the empty Berlin clubs and acts as a platform for discussion rounds, presentations and films, bringing you the whole spectrum of club culture on one channel. All income of the stream will go directly to a relief fund which will support clubs and event organizers in need.

Berlin (A)live:
Berlin (A)live offers an alternative stage for the artistic community of the city that has been affected by the Coronavirus crisis. It is a digital calendar for all that Berlin has to offer online, a channel on which live streams from all platforms are compiled and linked. It also offers the opportunity to support artists and projects through donations.

Gema Emergency Aid Program:
GEMA Managing Committee and Supervisory Board decided on an emergency aid programme for GEMA members with up to 40 million Euros. Composers, lyricists and music publishers who find themselves in an economic emergency threatening their existence because of the corona crisis, can apply for financial support from GEMA.

Helfen Berlin
Helfen Berlin is a platform that aims to support all our favourite spaces in the city: venues, clubs, cinemas, bars and more. You can buy a voucher for your place of choice, which you can redeem as soon as it open again. The idea is to provide them with immediate financial assistance and save them from bankruptcy.

Berlin Collective Action: Nightlife Emergency Fund
This fund exists to provide emergency financial aid to at-risk nightlife workers in Berlin — those whose livelihoods have been severely impacted by COVID-19, and especially those who do not have access to other support systems.
