The Original Hipster - Allen Ginsberg meets The Klezmatics

Being called a hipster today can easily be an insult. The original hipster and later beatnik Allen Ginsberg was of a different class. From the first lines of his criminalized poem HOWL (“I saw the best minds of my generation / destroyed by madness …”) in 1955 to his death in 1997 he never stopped to attack the destructive forces of capitalism, conformity and homophobia in the United States and abroad.

For his 90th birthday on June 3, 2016 we dug deep into the Piranha Records’ archive. Close to the bottom we found some lost moving pictures of his cult meeting with Piranha recording artists The Klezmatics in Berlin in 1993. Have a look!
