Julius Eastman ( 1940 – 1990 ) is the sole subject of "MaerzMusik 2018"'s festive opening – part of the programme is "Holy Presence of Joan d'Arc", a January 2017 interpretation here. All sorts of performances, exhibitions, reading and listening sessions plus an extensive conference will follow in the course of the internationally acclaimed festival of contemporary music until Sunday 25 MARCH

With "Modara Festival", chamber orchestra Divan der Kontinente and Piranha Events celebrate the beauty of cultural transformation. "[laut] Die Welt hören" ( "[sound] Listening to the World" ) – a project by Stiftung Humboldt Forum im Berliner Schloss in co-operation with Ethnologisches Museum, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Stiftung Stadtmuseum and Kulturprojekte Berlin GmbH with AMAR Foundation / Beirut and support by Arab Fund for Arts and Culture AFAC – takes a look into the fascination of sound in different cultures and times. Festive opening @ Humboldt Box, then a guided soundwalk to Umspannwerk am Alexanderplatz and there things get really going – fully booked already, we're afraid. Among the featured artists one of the pillars of Piranha Records since 1988 – Zimbabwen Mbira Queen Stella Chiweshe
