Good times! This fellow has written, produced + played so many good time music smash hits – it's hard to believe. No Sister Sledge as we know them today without Nile Rodgers, no Diana Ross, David Bowie, Madonna, Mick Jagger, Duran Duran, Grace Jones or B-52's, not even Daft Punk or Pharrell Williams – to name only a very very few. And certainly no "Le Freak"

Used to be a funny time when Pop Music was not only almost insanely catchy but also dazzling with allusions to philosophical heavyweights like Karl Marx, Mikhail Bakunin, Jacques Derrida, Gilles Deleuze or Jacques Lacan on top! Green Gartside aka Scritti Politti"Thank you!" For the music. And the attitude

Hopscotch / Acker Stadt Palast

Hopscotch around American cello player Tristan Honsinger is concerned mostly with storytelling in a movement way, a music way, a theatrical way and a scenic way. Different stories will be told in different ways – to large extents in improvised form. Each evening different – so probably surprise!

Tuesday 21 + Wednesday 22 / Saturday 25 + Sunday 26 AUGUST – PIRANHA / WOMEX SPECIAL

Piranha is thrilled to co-present Vincent Moon back @ Wolf with "Híbridos – The Spirits of Brazil", his 3 year research into Brazilian spiritualities with Priscilla Telmon – from the largest catholic procession in the world to a never before seen indigenous ritual in Mato Grosso, from healing ceremonies in spiritist centres to Ayahuasca driven avant-garde rituals in Rio de Janeiro. An ethnographic journey into the world of sacred ceremonies and their diversity, as well as a trip into cinema as a pure poetic language. Tuesday opens the short residency with a live performance of original "Híbridos" material in a site-specific improvised music mix. Wednesday sees the movies' German premiere plus a Q&A with its director – with 2 additional showings following on the weekend

As a little afterthought to Nile Rodgers above – he was also, of course, the man behind David Bowie's biggest success of 'em all, "Let's dance" – and representative of Piranha Picks of the Week's festival of the entire month, "Tanz im August" ( Friday 10 AUGUST – Sunday 2 SEPTEMBER ): Nick Power's "Between tiny Cities" – 2 dancers circling each other in a b-boy battle, exposing both the contradictions and connections between them

Where: Sophiensæle, Sophienstr. 18, 10178 Berlin // When: 19:00 ( Thu / Fri ) / 17:00 ( Sat )
