Summer's gone - Farewell, Andreas Schmidt

Summer's gone - Farewell, Andreas Schmidt

We bid a sad farewell to a dear friend of the Piranha family from the beginning, renowned actor Andreas Schmidt

After his legendary U-Bahn flash as Humphrey in "Linie 1", Andreas won an Oscar with Pepe Danquart's "Schwarzfahrer". Another Oscar was added for "The Counterfeiters" ( "Die Fälscher" ) - along with several Deutsche Filmpreise, a Grimme Preis and many achievements and successes more in over 120 productions.

In 1993, Andreas directed Le Zagazougou's "Djanfa" performance starring his brother Matthias as the type of con artist the song is about for Piranha's "HeimatKlänge" omnibus "Globus á GoGo":

Having grown up on the rough side of town in Märkisches Viertel, Andreas was the archetype of the Berliner we cherish: not from here originally, laid back, cosmopolitan, a gentle, humorous man

Our deepest sympathy is with his wife and his son - fare thee well!
