Is There a Future for World Music Albums? - Panel discussion at WOMEX 16

Some, though not all producers, say yes to the future of the World album. But once you have recorded it, the crucial question comes - what are you going to do with it?

For the ones attending WOMEX this year at Santiago de Compostela between 19th - 23rd of October, this is a panel discussion that you wouldn't like to miss.

Why do we continue to record, manufacture, package and market albums? What is the future of the recorded album, and is it an indulgence or an essential artistic goal? To what extent are specialist genres like world music different from mainstream repertoire?

These are some of the questions that the panelists would like to address.

The chairman of the discussion Patrick Lee-Thorp, shares with us his thoughts and some of his research results -- click here to read his article.
