Piranha Pick of the Week - Concerts not to miss in Berlin!

Thursday 16th of March
Female Voice of Iran music festival will for the first time stage 11 female singers from the younger generations originating from different regions of this huge country. In addition to their solo performances the singers will team up with musicians from the international contemporary Berlin scene. Lectures, workshops with the musicians, film portraits, and panel discussions with the festival curators will furthermore give the audience a unique insight.

HAIG Yazdjian, the virtuosic traditionalist and the restless innovator, visits our city with his Quartet for a unique concert on the same day. A world citizen: born in Syria, of Armenian descent with residence in Greece, Haig Yazdjian is an Oud-soloist, composer and singer that has become one of the driving forces in the Greek world-jazz music scene for the past decade.

Friday 17th of March
Sardinian Jazz Festival happens for the first time this year in Berlin. Organized by the Sardisches Kulturzentrum Berlin, the night - apart from the screeing of the documentary "The wind and waves - 25 years JAZZIN'SARDEGNA" and a jam session at the very end - will also include two great performances by the masters of Sardinian jazz; Antonello Salis and Giorgio Crobu Trio.

Saturday 18th of March
How could we go through this week without a bit of Balkan flavor? Disko Kosmopolit - the Global Sounds party of Berlin strikes again! Great Djs on the turntables; DJin SeekYou, Kosmopolit DJ team, Rocky B-The Tropikal and an even greater Balkan Brass band on stage - Cielo Faccio Orkestar.

Tuesday 21st of March
Bill Laurence has traveled the world with many award-winning projects. The multi-instrumentalist and producer has already been titled "The Jazz Maestro" by The Guardian. Laurance is certainly most widely known as a founding member of Snarky Puppy, the Brooklyn collective, with whom he has already won two Grammy Awards. Presented by XJAZZ, his concert is highly recommended.
