Piranha teams up w. documenta fifteen *Antiracist Muslim Metal Artists

Piranha teams up with the leading contemporary art exhibition documenta fifteen for its next edition in Kassel, Germany (18 June - 25 September 2022).

The main art objective: the release of HAZEEN's Gatefold album Sovereign Murders.

Hazeen is an anti-racist Muslim death metal band formed by Sydney-based artists, musicians and academics Safdar Ahmed on vocals and guitar, Can Yalcinkaya on drums and darbouka and Kian Dayani on bass guitar and daf drums.

Safdar Ahmed, has been invited to take part in the next documenta fifteen edition with a video installation and a collateral album, to be released on Piranha Records. In his own words;

"For our first album 'Sovereign Murders' we are collaborating with the kurdish-iranian thrash metal guitarist Kazem Kazemi, who was held as a refugee in Australia's offshore detention camp on Manus Island for 6 years. Our music confronts the expanding field of racism, Islamophobia and bigotry in the contemporary world, critically tackling the tropes of far-right wing ideology, 'timebomb' demographics, refugee panics and taqiyya/halal-food conspiracies. 'Sovereign Murders' will combine the energy of underground metal with Turkish and Iranian rhythms."
