Zohra - Afghanistan’s First Female Orchestra in Berlin

"Zohra" is an ensemble of 30 young Afghani musicians aged 13 to 20 and the first one in their country. They play Beethoven on the rabab and sitar, they play classical Afghan works on the cello and clarinet.

Taliban have banned public performances by female musicians but nevertheless, "Zohra" come to Berlin this Sunday, 29th of January 2017, for a unique performance at the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche in Berlin. The performances will be conducted by Zarifa Adiba and Negin Khpolwak, Afghanistan’s first female conductors.
